Which retailers are cheapest for ammo?
We compare each retailer's price on the same products against the typical price across retailers. Below zero means cheaper than typical.

How we calculate this
Updated Oct 20, 2026Typical price
We use every product sold by at least 8 retailers. For each product, the typical price is the median of those retailers’ current prices. Each retailer’s price is then shown as a percentage above or below it: $18.40 against an $18.20 typical price is +1.1%.
The headline number
A retailer’s headline is the median of its percentages across all qualifying products in a bucket. “Typically 3.2% below market” means half its products are priced more than 3.2% under typical and half less.
The 8-retailer minimum
Products sold by fewer than 8 retailers are left out, so a typical price is never set by one or two stores. A retailer is ranked in a bucket only once 200 or more of its products qualify.
Inconsistent prices and outliers
Products whose prices vary wildly across retailers, usually a sign of mismatched listings or bad data, are excluded. Single prices far outside a product’s normal range are dropped before the median is taken.
Cheapest or within 2%
The share of a retailer’s qualifying products where its price is the lowest we found, or no more than 2% above the lowest.
Weekly refresh, shipping and fees
Rankings are recomputed every week from current prices. They compare item prices only: shipping and fees are not part of this number. We don’t have shipping estimates or fees for retailers yet; as we collect them, they’ll be shown separately on each retailer page.
Coupons and promotions
Rankings use prices before any coupon or promotion, since most apply only to some products, orders or customers. Retailer pages will list known coupons and promotions, with where we found each one and the date we checked it.
Reports from shoppers
We’re adding a way for shoppers to report a shipping cost, fee, coupon or promotion that is wrong, expired or missing. Each report will be checked against the retailer’s site before we change what we show.
