Overview

The Wheeler Scope Ring Alignment and Lapping Kit is a professional-grade tool set designed for shooters and gunsmiths to ensure proper scope alignment and ring contact. When rings are misaligned, they can create bending stress on the scope tube, potentially denting the tube, distorting the reticle, or causing loss of zero. This kit diagnoses horizontal and vertical misalignment using two 1-inch alignment bars, allowing the user to correct issues before damage occurs. The kit also includes a 1-inch lapping bar with a plastic ball-handled steel shaft and a 1-ounce jar of 220-grit silicon carbide lapping compound to smooth the interior of the rings. Lapping the rings increases surface contact, which improves grip and prevents the scope from shifting under heavy recoil. The components are made in the USA with a blued steel finish and include complete instructions. It is recommended for use whenever a new scope is installed, particularly on bolt-action rifles, ARs, or rimfire firearms using rings from different bases or one-piece mounts.
