The Vltor A5 Heavy Weight Buffer is designed for the Vltor A5 buffer system and receiver extension tube, originally developed at the request of the Marine Corps to bring an adjustable stock to 20-inch M16 rifles. Utilizing a rifle-length spring in an adjustable receiver extension, this system translates to a smoother, slower bolt movement that reduces felt recoil and helps keep shooters on target. The buffer body is constructed from 7075 T6 aluminum with a Mil-Spec Type III clear hard coat anodized finish. With a weight of 6.83 ounces, this H4 heavy buffer is normally reserved for rifles with special demands, such as short-barreled or suppressed firearms that experience high backpressure.
