Overview

The Stern Defense upper receiver assembly is built around an enlarged ejection port designed to accommodate larger rounds like the .45 ACP. It features a Mil-Spec flat-top upper receiver machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with a hard-coat anodized finish, complete with a laser-engraved dust cover, forward assist, and Mil-spec dry film lube in the bore. The assembly includes a 6-inch 45 ACP barrel with a black Melonite finish, a free-float M-LOK handguard machined from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum with quick-disconnect swivel holes and a secure clamp-on mounting system, and the SD HBC .45 Blast Can muzzle device. Additional components include the Stern Defense SD BU45 Glock-cut bolt made from 8620 AISI steel with a Mag-Phosphate finish, compatible with Colt SMG and Glock magazines, along with an SD CH1 enhanced charging handle. The platform provides reliable cycling and modular versatility for custom AR-15 .45 ACP builds.
