Overview

The Sadlak National Match Grooved Gas Piston for M1A and M14 rifles is manufactured from certified 420 stainless steel and built to exact GI specifications, with all critical dimensions individually inspected. The piston undergoes a non-contact electro-polishing process to achieve a highly polished surface while maintaining strict tolerances and preserving sharp edges on the grooves. It is finished with a gold-colored Titanium Nitride (TiN) hard coating, which helps reduce galling, pitting, and wear against high heat and gunpowder residues for a smoother action and extended component life. Built to National Match drawing #9352724, the grooved design features a 0.030 to 0.040-inch wide groove running along the piston axis and through the gas-port hole. This configuration helps equalize gas pressure when using match ammunition, resulting in more consistent operation, reduced recoil during rapid fire, and the elimination of vacuum sticking between the piston and cylinder.
