Overview

The Ruger American Pistol in .45 ACP is a semi-automatic, striker-fired handgun featuring a 4.5-inch stainless steel barrel and a stainless steel slide with a black Nitride finish. Built around a one-piece, high-performance glass-filled nylon polymer grip frame, it utilizes a low-mass slide, low center of gravity, low bore axis, and a recoil-reducing barrel cam to manage recoil effectively. The pre-tensioned striker system incorporates a short-takeup trigger with a positive reset and an internal automatic sear block system, an integrated trigger safety, and a visual inspection port, operating without a manual safety. Designed for modularity and ambidextrous operation, the pistol includes interchangeable wrap-around grip modules for adjusting palm swell and trigger reach, an ambidextrous slide stop, and an ambidextrous magazine release. Sighting is handled by genuine Novak LoMount carry 3-dot sights, and a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail is integrated into the frame for accessories.
