Overview

The Proof Research 138960 is a match-grade, pre-fit bolt action rifle barrel designed for easy, drop-in installation on the Sig Cross platform without requiring gunsmithing or professional headspacing. Precision-engineered for high performance, this 20-inch barrel is manufactured in-house from double-stress relieved 416R stainless steel. The barrel features a 5-groove rifling pattern with a 1:8 twist rate and is threaded 5/8-24 tpi. Its design incorporates advanced heat dissipation properties, including a helical wrapping pattern that effectively manages thermal expansion and facilitates faster cooling, ensuring consistent accuracy over extended shooting sessions. Each barrel is drilled, contoured, reamed, cut-rifled, and lapped, followed by rigorous borescope inspection to meet strict match-grade standards.
