Overview

The Magpul Zhukov-U handguard is a versatile upgrade designed for AK-47 and AK-74 platforms, featuring a shortened profile that shaves approximately 1.5 inches off the standard Zhukov model to accommodate shorter-barreled rifles, pistols, and non-standard configurations. It retains compatibility with military-issue cleaning rods and features an injection-molded plum polymer outer shell paired with a full-length, hard-anodized aluminum chassis that clamps directly to the barrel for flex-free mounting and effective heat dissipation. Equipped with M-LOK slots at the three, six, and nine o'clock positions for direct-attach accessories and Picatinny rail sections, the handguard also includes a replacement polymer top cover that is compatible with UltiMAK optics mounts. Installation requires the permanent removal of the factory hand guard retaining cap and forward sling mount, and it counts as a US compliance part for 922(r).
