Overview

KG Gun Kote 2400 Series Firearm Finish in Satin Orange is a specialized thin hard coating designed to protect firearms against corrosion while offering a distinct color finish. Originally developed for United States Navy Seals and capable of withstanding over 500 hours of salt spray testing, this coating can endure temperatures exceeding 500 degrees F and dropping as low as -320 degrees F. It is suitable for application on all ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and magazines. The 2400 Series delivers high heat dissipation and abrasion resistance. Proper application involves sandblasting parts with 120 grit aluminum oxide at 40 lbs of pressure, thoroughly degreasing the surface, and applying a pretreatment for best adhesion. Parts should be preheated to about 120 degrees F, then coated with an airbrush or spray gun using four to five light passes applied from 8 to 10 inches away in alternating directions. After allowing the coating to dry, bake the part at 325 degrees F for one hour. The finish cleans up using Acetone or MEK.
