Overview

The Kershaw Layup is an assisted-opening pocket knife featuring a 3.4-inch stonewashed drop-point blade made from D2 high-carbon tool steel, known for its wear resistance, toughness, and edge retention. The knife utilizes a flipper opening mechanism combined with KVT ball-bearing washers and a spring-assisted system that holds a bias toward the closed position for rapid and snappy deployment. For security during use, the DuraLock mechanism secures the blade open utilizing a solid steel crossbar. To close the knife safely, the user pulls back on a handle button to unlock the blade, keeping fingers entirely out of the blade path. The handle is made from textured black glass-filled nylon (GFN) for a reliable grip and houses blue PVD steel tube spacers and a transfer bar. Measuring 4.5 inches closed with an overall length of 7.9 inches, the Layup includes a deep-carry pocket clip that is reversible for left- or right-side carry.
