Hornady Critical Defense .40 S&W ammunition is specifically engineered for personal protection and short-barreled concealed-carry firearms. Each 165-grain round features a patented Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) bullet designed to prevent the cavity from clogging when passing through heavy clothing, initiating rapid and reliable expansion upon impact. Loaded into corrosion-resistant nickel-plated brass cases with clean-burning, quick-reducing propellants, this ammunition minimizes muzzle flash to preserve night vision. It achieves a muzzle velocity of 1175 feet per second and generates 506 foot-pounds of muzzle energy, supplied in boxes of 20 rounds.
