Overview

Hornady Precision Hunter 280 Ackley Improved ammunition is engineered for long-range hunting and match-grade consistency. Each 162-grain Extremely Low Drag eXpanding (ELD-X) bullet features a heat-shield polymer tip that defies aerodynamic heating to retain its shape and ballistic coefficient throughout its trajectory. The bullet is built with a streamlined secant ogive, an optimum boattail design, and a concentric AMP jacket. Designed for deer and elk, this ammunition delivers devastating terminal performance at all practical ranges. At high velocities (0-400 yards), the thick jacket shank and InterLock ring ensure 50-60% weight retention. At lower velocities (400+ yards), the tip drives backward into the bullet to initiate deep-penetrating, large-diameter expansion with 85-90% weight retention. This ammunition is loaded in new, reloadable, boxer-primed brass cases.
