Overview

The Hornady ELD-X .338 270-grain rifle bullet is a match-accurate, all-range hunting projectile featuring high ballistic coefficients and controlled expansion across all practical distances. It utilizes a patent-pending Heat Shield polymer tip that resists aerodynamic heating and deformation to preserve its high-BC shape over the entire trajectory. Constructed with a streamlined secant ogive, optimum boat-tail design, and highly concentric AMP bullet jackets, the bullet features a thick jacket shank and a high InterLock ring that maintain core-jacket integrity for 50% to 60% weight retention at conventional high velocities (0–400 yards). At lower impact velocities beyond 400 yards, the tip drives backward into the core to initiate conventional expansion with a large mushroom and 85% to 90% retained weight for deep penetration and large wound cavities.
