Overview

Hodgdon Pyrodex P is a black powder substitute designed as a direct replacement for FFFg black powder when measured volumetrically using a black powder measure. It is intended primarily for use in muzzleloading pistols, cap and ball revolvers, and small-bore muzzleloading rifles (.45 caliber and under). Additionally, it can be used as a priming charge in firearms that experience ignition difficulties due to fouled or tortuous ignition channels. Like other Pyrodex grades, it burns cleaner and produces less fouling than traditional black powder. Users should strictly avoid mixing different powder types, brands, or sources, and must not substitute smokeless powder for black powder or black powder substitutes.
