Federal Syntech Defense 40 S&W ammunition is designed for self-defense applications. Each 175-grain segmented jacketed hollow point (SJHP) bullet is engineered to separate into three segments upon impact, creating multiple deep wound channels alongside a primary deep-penetrating core that achieves 12 to 18 inches of penetration in ballistics gel. The ammunition features a blue polymer jacket that reduces barrel friction and heat while eliminating lead and copper fouling. It utilizes Federal’s Catalyst lead-free primer for reliable ignition in brass casings. With a muzzle velocity of 1,000 fps and a muzzle energy of 389 ft. lbs., this ammunition is non-corrosive and reloadable.
