Overview

The Faxon Firearms Big Gunner 16-inch barrel is chambered in 8.6 Blackout and designed for DPMS LR-308 pattern upper receivers. Manufactured from 4150 Mil-Spec chrome-moly vanadium steel, this barrel undergoes rigorous testing and individual headspace checks using custom hardened gauges. It features Faxon's Big Gunner profile, which incorporates a medium taper behind the gas block and a thinner taper forward of the gas block to reduce overall weight while maintaining rigidity for high rates of fire and suppressor use. This barrel utilizes a carbine-length gas system with a 1.9-inch gas block journal diameter and a .875-inch gas block diameter. Rifling consists of a button-rifled 1:3 twist rate designed to leverage rotational energy for increased on-target performance. Both the interior and exterior are treated with a durable salt bath nitride finish. The muzzle is threaded M18x1.5 with a tapered shoulder and includes an adapter, complemented by an 11-degree target crown and magnetic particle inspection.
