Overview

The Daniel Defense MK18 Upper Receiver Group is designed for short-barrel rifle performance and close-quarters operations. Featuring a 10.3-inch cold hammer-forged barrel made from mil-spec 4150 chrome-moly vanadium steel with a chrome lining, a 1:7 twist rate, and a 5.56 NATO chamber, this assembly ensures enhanced velocity, durability, and reliable feeding via incorporated M4 feed ramps. The heavy mil-spec phosphate coated barrel and pinned low-profile gas block integrate with a carbine-length direct impingement gas system. The upper is built around a CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum flat-top receiver with a Type III hard coat anodized finish, indexing marks, and an M16 profile bolt carrier group that undergoes Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) testing with a properly staked gas key. It comes equipped with the MK18 Rail Interface System (RIS II) quad-rail handguard, utilizing a Bolt-Up System that free-floats the barrel for increased accuracy and provides ample mounting space for tactical accessories. Finished in black, the complete upper assembly includes heat-resistant rail panels, a Daniel Defense flash suppressor, and an independently ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle engineered with anti-gas features for suppressed fire.
