Overview

The Colt 1911 Government Competition is a single-action semi-automatic handgun chambered in .38 Super. Designed for precision, it features a 5-inch National Match stainless steel barrel with a 1:14 LH 6-groove twist and a 9+1 capacity. The pistol utilizes a 70 Series firing system and a Dual Spring Recoil System to manage recoil and extend component life. Constructed with a brushed stainless steel frame and slide, the Competition model includes an upswept beavertail grip safety, an extended thumb safety, and an undercut trigger guard to ensure a low, controlled grip. The skeletonized 3-hole aluminum trigger is set for a pull weight of 4.5–6 lbs. Sighting is handled by a Novak red fiber optic front sight paired with an adjustable Novak rear sight. The pistol is finished with scalloped, blue checkered G10 grips. It ships with two magazines, a cable lock, spare sight fibers, and an instruction manual.
